Frequently Asked Questions

I don’t have a gym membership.  Can I do the program?

Absolutely!  If you’re working out at home, I recommend you start the program with at least one set of weights (there are plenty of affordable options on Amazon and my faves are here), a resistance band, and a mat (optional–only if you need/prefer one.)

I’m pretty out of shape.  Can I do the program?

Absolutely.  You’re what we affectionately refer to as a “mover.” In time as you adjust to the workouts and build your endurance, you may move up to a “shaker,” but you’re in good company with plenty of other mover Challengers.

I have tender joints/suffer from chronic pain. Can I do the program?

If your doctor is okay with it, yes. In fact, we’re in the process of offering Yoga-based modifications for the more joint/back strenuous exercises. We have challengers coming from many physical states so you will be in great company!

I’m trying to get in shape to have a baby. Is this program helpful for that?

100% yes and many of the challengers have pursued the program for this specific reason. Welcome! And good luck 🙂

Is this program only for 20 and 30-somethings?

While we have many challengers who are in this age group, we welcome anyone 21 and over.  We’ve had people of all ages (up into their 70s) do the Better Body Challenge!

I don’t have Facebook.  Can I still do the program?

Yes, but it’s a pretty helpful part of the program.  It’s a built-in community of workout buddies and support.  If you have one, it helps, but it’s not required.

I’m a dude.  Can I do the Better Body Challenge?

GENTLEMEN!  I love you dearly, but right now the program is only open to ladies.  If there’s enough interest, I’d happily consider opening a boys club or couples challenge.  Let me know if this is appealing to you here.

I travel often for work.  Can I do this on the road/on a ship/in a hotel room?

Yep.  You’re in great company here.  We have many challengers doing this literally all over the country in all different situations.  The Captain is currently working out of a hotel room and has plenty of advice on how to maintain a diet without a kitchen 🙂 If you don’t have constant access to dumbbells, all you need is a resistance band.

What if I don’t know what an exercise is?

Excellent news–Captain Kat produces explainer videos for each and every workout. If you have any further questions, you’re always welcome to email Kat directly or post on the private Facebook community.

Have other questions?  Don’t hesitate to ask the Captain here!
